The Perfect Tree

I had worked several years at a behavioral health hospital on a residential unit, with some amazing physicians. However, Dr. Costigan was truly a one-of-a-kind individual who cared for the kids being treated at the facility. He took his time to talk with and really listen to how each resident was feeling. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he did not let that slow him down. He still showed such compassion for every child he treated. When he passed away, the staff wanted to do something special for him, so we had a memorial tree dedicated to Dr. Costigan at The Morton Arboretum. We chose an Oak because it fit his strong and wise nature. He is always missed, but will never be forgotten.
