Trees from Seed

My husband and I have both loved trees since we were teenagers. As a result of this love, we have grown four trees from seed on our property in Woodridge, Ill. The four trees are sweet-gum, black walnut, horse-chestnut, and yellow buckeye. 

We learned the hard way that the black walnut does not like certain neighboring plants--or should I say, they do not like the black walnut.

My favorite of the four is the sweet-gum. Each year the leaves turn different colors, so you never know what you will get. Sometimes they are yellow, orange, red, and green all at the same time.

The squirrels love the nuts from our trees, especially the yellow buckeye.
