Acorns to Giants

I grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. After I married, we built a house on land near Lyman Woods with about 200 trees on it; about 20 of them are 100+ year old oaks. We try to leave half of our land wild for the animals in the forest.

A few years back, at 2:00 in the morning, a giant oak fell onto my family room during a thunderstorm. When the crew came to remove the tree, they found it was actually two oaks that had bonded together with over 190 rings at the base. Yes, I still love oaks.
