I grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. After I married, we built a house on land near Lyman Woods with about 200 trees on it; about 20 of them are 100+ year old oaks.
We were both city people. My husband and I grew up in New York and you had to take a substancial drive in order to really commune with nature.
My tree story begins in the summer of 1965. A wonderful park about a quarter-mile from our house, called Willow Park, was filled with beautiful willow trees.
