Glory Days

When we moved to Villa Park over 40 years ago, elm trees along both sides of north Ardmore Avenue formed a lovely tunnel that provided shady respite on simmering summer days.  When these glorious trees were felled due to Dutch elm disease, my heart wept.  Tiny saplings--species that were more suitable and disease-resistant, we were told--were then planted along the street.  It seemed they would never catch up to or replace the elm glory days.

Due to a job transfer, we moved to another state and lived there for 18 years before returning back home to the Chicago area during summer of 2019.  "Delight" describes my reaction to seeing a new shade tunnel formed by sturdy trees along Ardmore Avenue. Nature, science, and time prove that you can go to the home you remember, again.
