Over the years my family has visited the Morton Arboretum for the beauty of the trees. The spring blossoms, the summer leaves, and the autumn colors.
Back in the ‘50s when I was a wee girl, things were so different.

It was just a bench among the pines.
In the fall of 1979, I proposed to my wife at Morton Arboretum. It was a beautiful warm fall Day with the trees in full color.
The Morton Arboretum has some proud examples of the black locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia). Nevertheless, invasive tendencies raise concern about future applications.
December 29, 2015. Received the call that my father had passed away, never fully recovering from open-heart surgery. We had lost mom the previous year due to Alzheimer's.
We walk together, hand in hand, breathing the chilly air and breathing out small puffs of smoke. The special quiet of snow has descended. The familiar crunchy sound of fresh snow under our boots.
Whenever little Raymond and his mother visited the Morton Arboretum, he insisted that they visit the “owl tree” on the west side of the park.
